COMMUNITY FIRST
Soul Surgery is bringing together a community committed to bringing awareness to individuals seeking to recover from various forms of trauma, to be seen, be heard, and be empowered. Being a Black, woman, and entrepreneur, Chavalle is open about focusing dialogue on diversity within these communities surrounding trauma, mental health, and healing.

LEANING INTO THE NATURAL
The visuals of Soul Surgery lean into the spectrum that nature provides. This can range from blooming in the sun, start a healing process, all the way to feeling low-energy and needing nourishment.
Platform is founded by game changer, go-getter, legacy builder, and thought-Leader LaTonya Foster. Meeting and working with LaTonya really showed me that authenticity and critical thinking was crucial to DEI in the work place dialogue and action.

DIVERSITY AND GENDER FLUIDITY
Soul Surgery is a Black-owned business. Finding diverse and gender-fluid photography is important because 1 in 5 adults are diagnosed with a mental health illness in 1 year. The community is diverse already, the visuals need to reflect that.
The corporate ladder for a woman of color simply isn't a straight one, nor even the same path for another WOC. It is a path that twists, turns upside down, and can even go in circles at certain steps. The balance a WOC takes to advance in a career, be heard, and be respected, is unique to each step of the way. It takes the balance of your head, advocacy for you, your audience, your health.

LAUNCHING WITH A LITTLE TASTE OF THE FUTURE
Soul Surgery is still in the process of figuring out what their web-presence looks like. Is there an online forum? Is there an app? Are there physical spaces for those on a local-scale to start a dialogue? Are there events with panels for discussion? As Soul Surgery starts to collect data to better answer those questions, a simple website for launch has been designed. Visit the website here.

A BREAK FROM USUAL SOCIAL MEDIA PRESSURES
Soul Surgery was initially created because Chavalle was looking for resources relating to trauma that she couldn't gain access to without an exhausting amount of research. The social media mentality is also recognized as an area that flashes a lot of content that might make someone with mental health illness and trauma feel worse. That's why Chavalle made social media and accessibility to resources a priority for her business. Content needed to be genuine, not afraid to go there for real talk, and a break from the usual influencer media.
